Hazrat Zayd Bin Thabit

1. Was one of the Ansar
2. Accepted Islam at an age of 13 when Prophet(SAW) migrated to Madinah
3. He could read and write.
4. He was not allowed to participate (too young) in Battle of Badr and Battle of Uhad.
5. Had great contribution as a scribe of divine revelation
6. He memorized Quran by heart (used to Listen from Prophet(PBUH) and recited in front  of Prophet(PBUH)
7. Had a lot of knowledge and was very wise
8. He was the principal scribe and was also one of the Sahib-e-Suffah
9. “We used to compile the Quran in the presence of Prophet(P.B.U.H)”
10. Prophet(SAW) instructed him to learn Hebrew and Syrian, and appointed him as his interpreter
11. Prophet(SAW) gave him the task to write the treaties
12. He sent letters to Egypt and Persian Empire.
13. Prophet(SAW) gave him the responsibility of writing the divine revelation
14. He arranged the Quran under the supervision of the Prophet(SAW)
15. Zayd learned the Quran directly from Prophet(SAW)
16. After the death of Prophet(SAW) Zayd took part in the battles against false prophets
17. Abu Bakr (RA) entrusted Zayd the duty of compiling the Quran in book form
18. At beginning he hesitated but later he was convinced.
19. Zayd said:
By Allah! If Abu Bakr had ordered me to shift
A mountain among the mountain from one place
To another, it would not have been heavier for me
Than this ordering me to collect Quran.”
20. Collected Date palm leaves,stones,skin of animals and bones
21. “In started locating Quran material and collecting if from parchment, scapula, leaf stalk of date palm leaves and from the memories of men.”
22. Zayd took his responsibility seriously and collected Quran from all over the empire.
23. During the reign of Usman (RA) he was reappointed to add the dialect to the Quran.
